WHAT CAN YOU DO IN LIBEREC?

At the beginning, when we arrived at Liberec, we wanted to travel a lot around Europe because from Czech Republic it is cheaper. But our exams forced to stay in Liberec, and we started to think about things that we can do there.

First, about the helps for your homework that can Liberec provides. In the dormitory, you have a lot of rooms, called “Assembly room” where usually the ESN organizes some parties like Beer pong,… but you can rent them (its free) to work. Some of them have tables, chairs and sometimes boards with a lot of chalks. Actually, I used it a lot. It was hard to stay focus on our work in the room because we wanted to do so many things except working. And you can also invite some friends to work with you, and working becomes funnier.

Secondly, around the dormitory, there is a huge forest, mountains and a beautiful lake: the environment is amazing. Closed to the lake, you can find bar and also something really important: the grass, to chill on with your beer and the nice view on the lake. So when we had the time, during ours breaks, we went hiking and discovered the amazing forest which is just fifteen minutes far from my flat. Some Czech people were also biking and camping in the forest. I was really surprised, it was like another world closed to my home. By the way, a friend came with his slack line and I learned how to play with it at the summit of a mountain: an unforgettable experience.

Then, about Art activities. You can find a several museum just twenty minutes by foot from the dormitory. Some of them stayed focus on the history of mechanic in Liberec and also about the textile. Not all of them, of course, so you can feed your curiosity just closed to your home. However the Technical Univerzita of Liberec has a jazz band. I had the opportunity to listen to them twice and it was a great pleasure to attend this show. It was really good to remember great classic jazz track mostly in Czech Republic, because we don’t have the same language with Czech people but we appreciate and know the same music and that’s amazing. Furthermore, in the dormitory, they provide a room, for free, with a piano inside. I went there with some friends, we played one by one some songs and sing together: a happy memory.

Finally, about Sport activities. You have a complex with sports facilities: a big gym where you can play volley-ball, futsal, basket-ball and hand-ball, but also a bodybuilding room. Inside the dormitory, you can find a room with a big mirror for dancing (Zumba) or Martials Arts lessons and also the same room with a punching bad for boxing. At the end of Erasmus, a lot of friends and I wanted to play volley-ball more often so I bought a ball and we started to play first on the grass in front of our building and after that, we rent for 4 euros the hour, a beach volley ball court. This field is just behind the dormitory, about ten minutes by foot, and it has near a synthetic football field and tennis courts. In my opinion, the sport gave me the possibility to know more people and we shared such great moments. I think that the sport can create a link between unknowing people and make them good friends: a pleasure shared and appreciated.

To conclude, Liberec is a small town, the university gave us the tools to work as much as we can and also the living environment is just perfect. It allows us to meet a lot of people easily. Thank you Liberec!!
