INTERNATIONAL ERASMUS GAMES

The University of Liberec were represented by one team in each sport: Volley Ball, Basketball and Futsal. The price was about 44 euros including accommodation, meals, transport and the access to a swimming pool and Jacuzzi. We didn’t have a lot of practise but our goal, first, was to play together and having fun. The trip was organized from a member in ESN organization. To go there, we took one tram, three trains and about 25 minutes by foot. A good beginning to make us talking each other. The competition was in the beautiful city of Nymburk in a big sport complex. The framework of life was peaceful and beautiful.

The place was like a huge school for sports people: so we had a canteen, a lot of infrastructure adapted to all sport: tatami for judo, swimming pool…

The first night, we had an Erasmus party. It allowed us to meet other Erasmus students in Czech Republic and we could exchange about our life and our trip in the middle of Europe around a billard or football table.

Just before partying we swam and stayed in the swimming pool for 3 hours to enjoy it. We also ate a delicious meal.

We were a group of 17 young from all around Europe who studied in Liberec. I was in volley ball team where most of the people are French. The Liberec’s volley ball team wanted to win absolutely. The winner of the tournament will go to Serbia and face other winners from Europe. We had 7 opponents and the challenge was hard because during the game we wanted to communicate in French and only two people were not French.

One of the 7 teams was really good and kind of professional’s players. We managed to rise until the final against the best team. We also had a cheerleader, she was normally a player but she was sick so she encouraged our teams by screaming and singing.

Finally, we got the second place and won the silver medals.

Our team of basketball and futsal, was really good. Between our matches, we could go and supported them. We played hard during all of the tournament. It was difficult because we did 6 matches during 3 days.

Each team won something:

· The futsal team won the first place with the golden medal, a chocolate cake, the opportunity to go in Serbia

· The volley ball team won the second place with the silver medal and a bottle of 1L of Captain Morgan

· The basketball team won the third place with a bronze medal, and a bottle of vodka.

After that event, we also registered at a Liberec tournament, not only with Erasmus student. All of the matches was really hard and rude. We did our best but it was a good experience.

It was my first experience as a volley ball player and it was nice and amazing. I discovered some people from all around the world and also that we can share a lot around sports. I really appreciate that good moment with interesting people.
